Personal Statement   

​

​

I have a versatile skillset, with a strong focus on traditional materials and methods of manufacture, particularly leather, metal and woodwork. I have a keen interest in history and a good knowledge and understanding of period design and aesthetics, especially relating to medieval era arms and armour. I am enthusiastic, level headed, with good attention to detail and always keen to learn new skills. Happy to apply myself to any task in the creative industries.

Skills

​

​

Confident and able on workshop machinery and power tools, including woodturning lathes, engineering lathes, milling machines and vacuum formers. Able to work accurately and precisely with hand tools.

​

Experienced in a wide range of metalworking processes and techniques including forging, sheet raising, grinding, machining, decorative shaping and filework, silver soldering, soft soldering, and basic mig and oxy acetylene welding. Able to work with hand tools to high tolerances.   

​

Leatherwork skills include patterning, tooling, hand stitching and dyeing.

 

Woodworking skills include carving and joinery, with good knowledge of properties of different wood species and their suitability for specific tasks. Also proficient with standard model making techniques using wood substitutes such as chemiwood and mdf.  

​

Good artistic ability, able to design, sketch and paint to a high standard. Able to sculpt with good attention to detail in mediums such as plastiline and jewellers wax, and have experience in silicone moulding and resin casting.​

​

Able to work accurately to scale blueprints and manage projects from start to finish within a given timeframe.

Independent small scale production of leatherwork and other handmade products, including both standardised stock items and fully bespoke pieces built to customer requirements.

Atom model makers: 2016

One month work experience in product and architectural model making. Tasks included paint finishing, moulding, casting, and 3d design (Rhino)

Odyssey The Musical: amateur theatre production: 2014 

Design and construction of costume and prop weapons suitable for stage use.

Tod’s Stuff: Course in crossbow making: 2012

3 day course constructing an authentic replica of a fifteenth century crossbow.
